BioShock Android APK: why the 2014 iOS port never came to Android, and how Bioshock 1 Mobile runs Rapture natively
BioShock had an official iOS version in 2014 and it was pulled a year later; Android never got one. Here is what the «BioShock APK» downloads really are and how Bioshock 1 Mobile runs the opening of Rapture on an ordinary phone, with a free demo.
BioShock is one of the few big PC shooters that really did get a phone version: 2K released it for iPhone and iPad in August 2014. It was removed from the App Store in 2015 after an iOS update broke it, and it never came to Android. That history is why «BioShock Android APK» searches lead only to download sites. This guide explains what those files are and how Bioshock 1 Mobile, Zodita's community port, brings the opening of Rapture to a normal Android phone.
What happened to the official mobile BioShock
The 2014 iOS port cost $14.99, needed an iPhone 5S or iPad Air, and was praised for being the whole game. After iOS 8.4 broke it, 2K pulled it from sale and later refunded buyers. There was never an Android build, and the 2016 BioShock: The Collection (PC, consoles, Switch) did not change that. 2K's only Android presence is unrelated titles.
What the «BioShock APK + OBB» sites are
Files advertised as a BioShock APK for Android are either the dead iOS build repackaged (it cannot run on Android at all), a PC repack that still needs a Windows layer, or an installer nobody has inspected. Several popular links lead to offer walls that never unlock a file. If you want BioShock on a phone, a loose APK is not the route.
The real options
Streaming services can run the PC or console version on a server, which works where the service exists and your connection is steady. Winlator and similar Windows layers can run the 2007 PC version on flagship phones after a long setup, without touch controls. A native port rebuilds the game for ARM Android with touch controls designed for a phone. Bioshock 1 Mobile is the native option.
How Bioshock 1 Mobile is different
Bioshock 1 Mobile is Zodita's unofficial community port of BioShock (2007). It runs on the phone itself, offline, no emulator and no stream, with touch controls for movement, aiming, plasmids and weapons, plus controller support. The Zodita app downloads the game in verified parts, checks every byte, installs it as its own app and updates only the changed pieces later.
Demo and full version
The free demo is the lighthouse, the bathysphere ride and the arrival in Rapture. The full version is sold on the Bioshock 1 Mobile game page for $6.49 (a 40 % cut from $10.82, until 30 November 2026). It currently adds the Medical Pavilion, and the rest of Rapture arrives as free updates to the same purchase.
What your phone needs
Android 8 or newer, a 64-bit chip, 4 GB of memory and about 500 MB of free storage for the current build (the download is 170 MB). BioShock is light by today's standards: most phones from the last five years run it well, including mid-range chips. The game plays offline after installing.
