Half Life 2 Mobile is Zodita's unofficial community port of Valve's 2004 shooter. It runs on the phone itself, with touch controls, and its first three chapters are a free demo; the full game is on pre-order.
Not a stream, not an emulator
Cloud services stream Half-Life 2 from a server, so every second of play needs a fast connection. Windows emulators such as Winlator translate PC code on the fly and need a strong phone and a long setup. Half Life 2 Mobile runs natively on Android, on top of an open-source Source engine port for ARM phones, with controls made for a touch screen.
Is there an official Half-Life 2 for Android?
Only for NVIDIA Shield devices: Valve and NVIDIA released it there in 2014, and it never came to ordinary Android phones. Half Life 2 Mobile is not that release. It is an unofficial community port by Zodita, not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve.
Size and updates
The download is about 2.3 GB and installs as its own app through the Zodita app. Zodita checks every downloaded byte before it installs, and later updates download only the parts that changed.
Free while in testing
The Half Life 2 Mobile demo (chapters 1-3) is free to play; the full game is on pre-order. Create a free Zodita account, install the Zodita app for Android from zodita.com, and add the game to your library. We publish what we fix in each build on the Zodita news page.
