The Witcher 3 mobile demo was planned for October 24. It arrived on October 21

Update, October 21: the demo is out. Open the Zodita app, find The Witcher 3 Mobile and tap Download. It is an early build (version 0.2.0) covering Kaer Morhen, the opening chapter. The original article follows.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the biggest game we have put on the Zodita roadmap so far. A free demo for Android phones is planned for Saturday, October 24, at 18:00 UTC, and the countdown is on the Zodita home page.
Is The Witcher 3 on mobile?
Not officially. CD Projekt Red's games on phones are spin-offs such as Gwent and The Witcher: Monster Slayer. Players who want Wild Hunt itself on a phone today stream it from a PC or a cloud service, which needs a fast connection every second, or run the PC version through a Windows emulator, which needs a very strong device and a long setup.
Zodita works differently. Our games are ported to run natively on the phone itself, with controls made for a touch screen and no server in between. The Witcher 3 demo will be the same kind of build: it installs through the Zodita app and plays on the phone.
What the demo is
The Witcher 3 (2015) follows Geralt of Rivia, a witcher who hunts monsters for coin, through a war-torn world while he searches for Ciri, the young woman he raised. The demo is a first slice of that world, not the whole game. We will publish exactly which areas and quests it contains, its download size and the minimum phone on release day, once the build is final. We would rather tell you late than tell you wrong.
Which phones
Our target, as with every Zodita port, is ordinary mid-range Android phones, not only flagships. The Witcher 3 is a heavy game, so the minimum will be higher than for Max Payne or Half-Life 2. If your phone runs our Skyrim Mobile demo well, that is a good sign.
How to get it
- Create a free Zodita account on zodita.com
- Install the Zodita app for Android
- Open The Witcher 3 page and add it to your library
- On October 24 the demo appears in the app, ready to install
The date is our plan. If it moves, the home page countdown and this news page will say so first.
Still an early build
Like every Zodita demo, the first Witcher 3 build will have rough edges. We publish what we fix in each update, and crash reports from the app decide what comes first.
Until then, Skyrim Mobile, BioShock, F.E.A.R., MDW1 Mobile, Max Payne and Max Payne 2 are playable as demos or early access builds, and Half-Life 2 Mobile has a free demo with the full game on pre-order.
