What Max Payne Mobile is today
Max Payne Mobile is an early-access rebuild of the first Max Payne, made from the original game data. It runs as a native Android app, not as a cloud stream and not through a Windows emulator. The build covers Part I: The American Dream, chapters 1 and 2, starting at Roscoe Street Station, with bullet time, shoot-dodge and touch controls. Early access means rough edges are expected. The game is improved build by build, and more of the story arrives in later builds.
Is it free?
The early-access build is free to try with a Zodita account. The full game is not free. The Zodita store shows the full edition at $2.99, down 40% from $4.98, and that price runs until 30 November 2026. Chapters 1 and 2 are the part you can play now, so judge the build by those before you decide on the rest.
Size and what your phone needs
The download is about 200 MB, and each update downloads only the parts that changed. Max Payne Mobile needs Android 8 or newer, 4 GB of memory and about 500 MB of free storage. It is rated PEGI 18. The modes are single-player with touch controls, and the game plays offline once it is installed, so no connection is needed during play.
Max Payne Mobile and the 2012 release
Rockstar released its own Max Payne Mobile app in 2012. Zodita's build is a different product: an unofficial community rebuild, not affiliated with or endorsed by Rockstar Games or Remedy. If you are looking for that app, this page is not about it.
How it runs on a phone compared with Winlator
Winlator is a Windows compatibility layer that can run PC games on Android. It needs a setup of its own on the phone, and performance depends heavily on the device and on the game. Max Payne Mobile is not an emulator. The game runs on the phone's own processor and graphics, and it installs as its own app through the Zodita app, which downloads the game in verified parts and checks every byte before it installs.
Zodita's model is the same for every port: a native Android build, a free early-access build where one exists, the full version by purchase, and the store in 14 languages. The app updates only the changed parts later, so an early-access update does not mean a new full download.

- Sign in, open Max Payne Mobile in your library, tap Install and let the download finish.
